The Process of Creating A Custom Piece of Jewelry

• Step 1: The jeweler and the customer meet to create sketches of how the finished piece will look.
• Step 2: The jeweler hand carves a wax image of the piece being created.
• Step 3: The customer approves the wax.
• Step 4: The wax is cast into the metal of choice.
• Step 5: The piece is brought to a high polish finish.
• Step 6: The gemstones are set in the piece.
• Step 7: The finished product is cleaned, polished, and brought to Scoville quality.
• Step 8: The custom designed piece is presented to the customer.

* Due to the one of a kind nature of custom pieces a minimum of four weeks should be allowed to complete the process.

Opal Pendant Process: Lower right corner shows the sketches and notes made by the jeweler and customer. Lower left corner shows the wax with the opal placed in it to get the feel for the piece.
